Launch Into is the first release by the Milan based producer Atra Bilis. The artist compiles his sonic and visual practices into a work that could be the score of a sic-fi short film. Referencing from the 90’s UK rave and jungle scene to the maverick breakbeat masters such as Coco Bryce and Seagrave, Atra Bilis crafts his own sound shaping the path for a futuristic journey towards the dark skies.
The first track 636, feels like a leap into the atmosphere, pulsing with kinetic jungle drum kicks along with a shudder bass line and dizzying electronics. The air gets thinner and the sounds is silenced by trembling shakes: we‘re floating in the twilight with the gloaming synths of Melodry. Suddenly we get sucked back in the spasmodic drum patterns - we’ ll we ever go back? The remix by the breaks wizard Rongvald drifts into melancholic undercurrents and spacey effects that will leave us suspended between light and eternal darkness.
